picking up a new mac today

and while creating the list of apps I needed to copy over “right away”, so I could still get in a full work day, I’m surprised at how few 3rd party apps are actually critical to my work:

• textmate
• pyro
• firefox [+firebug]

… that’s quite literally it.  everything else is provided by apple [terminal.app, ruby, mysql] or is web based [hosted gmail].
ah well, time to replace this powerbook g4. as a testament to OS X, it still runs fine and while some things may take a few bounces to load, I’m “used to it” at this point.  the only reason I’m upgrading now is for the iphone SDK, as it’s intel-only.  and so my tests run faster.  I’ll post results later.
