compared to dedicated servers I’ve had in the past, ec2 just seems horribly slow. I’m not sure if it’s the lack of specs, disk access or what — but it’s noticeable.

anyone else noticing the trend of dropping the password confirmation field? vimeo does it, ran into it in a few other places today too. I guess it makes sense. after all, they can always retrieve their password later. unless they mistyped their email address too. oops.

and while creating the list of apps I needed to copy over “right away”, so I could still get in a full work day, I’m surprised at how few 3rd party apps are actually critical to my work:

pyro
firefox [+firebug]
… that’s quite literally it. everything else is provided by apple [terminal.app, ruby, mysql] or is web based [hosted gmail]. ah well, time to...
